My boxes arrived today...the end of the journey? Strangely this seems an apt expression in more ways than I can explain at the moment.

Welcome

This blog has been a reflective space for describing and exploring my PhD research journey since 2009. I've used this blog to give voice and expression to my thoughts, insights, dilemmas, frustrations and challenges as I made my way through the research process. Now that I have come to the end of that journey and new journeys start to unfold I want the blog to continue to be the place where I can share my stories and understandings as new identities shaped by my PhD experiences are enacted. In particular I will share my reflections, observations, insights of my post-PhD experiences within the South African higher education context.

I was born in Bridgetown, an ordinary, nondescript and possibly insignificant 'coloured' township on the Cape Flats of Cape Town. Growing up on the Cape Flats has left an indelible mark on all that I am and how I see the world. So while I've transcended the physical constraints of my childhood neighbourhood, traveled the world, completed a PhD in England, I still remain at my core a simple, ordinary capeflatsgirl.
